4 "Takes" from Matthew 6:25-34
This is an extract from my devotional material, Cover To Cover Every Day:
1. Take lessons from the logic of creation (v26-30)
- Spend time with nature. They, i.e. animals & plants, can teach us how to trust.
- Jesus affirms that we, humans, are of more value than God's other creatures.
2. Take note of the lifestyle of pagans (v32)
- How can we be salt & light to them if we are as neurotic as they are about where their daily bread is coming from?
3. Take heart, above all, from the love of the Father (v32)
- Our Daddy God knows our every need before we ask him (v8, 32).
4. Take life in day-sized chunks (v34)
- "To live in the present is to live in the Presence." - Gerald Vann.
The key is to rechannel our energies into a renewed passion for the kingdom of God & its surpassing righteousness (v33).
