Paul's Letter to American Christians -- Afterthought
I thank God that Pastor Jason shared this during service yesterday. Yesterday's sermon was about Christian Unity. Pastor Jason gave very good illustrations on how we divide the Christian body based on differences such as denominations & practices (such as how we worshipped). Like what Paul wrote to the Corinthians (in 1 Corinthians 3:4-9), "For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men? What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building." Instead of tearing the body of Christ up, we should embrace the difference we have. At the end of the day, whatever practices we do, whatever denominations we are in, our ultimate desire is to seek God & please Him.
This message serves as a real good reminder. I was brought up in a Protestant church, and a really charismatic kind. On the other hand, Eu-Jzin was brought up in a Bible Presbyterian church. The practices of both denominations are different. I missed being liberal--lifting up my hands and clapping to the beat. I feel that the way we worship God should not be limited. It's a way to express my joy & adoration for God. But what I've come to understand from this message is to strike a balance. Ultimately, as I have said, our desire is to worship & praise God; to give God all the glory He deserves. So no matter if it's putting my hands at the side or raising them up, as long as my heart turns to Him, He knows it all.
Credit goes to my Lord God for the revelation. :)
