Day 2: The Great Trap
If Isaiah was to be alive today, he will say what was written in Isaiah 58:1-3a in this manner:“Shout it from the pulpit. Teach it at cells. Preach it in your grand conventions. Blog it. Podcast it. Don’t censor it! Do whatever you can to get everybody’s wandering attention.
Tell My people their transgression, and each “tribe” their sins. Yes, they appear to be serious about seeking Me — in their quiet time, in their liturgy, in their prayer gatherings.
They run from church to church, from conference to conference, from prophet to prophet, seemingly eager to discern My agenda.
Thinking they are spiritual and special, a cut above the rest, they yearn for My “now” word. They strive to impress Me; they crave for the applause of men.
“Why have we put in so much effort, spent so much money on so much stuff and still end up having so little to show for? Why have we prayed long and loud, and still there’s no turn around — no revelation, no revival, no results?”
(From today's Love Singapore's 40-day fasting material)
It just saddens my heart when I read this. I pray for a genuine heart that beats after God's. A genuine heart that shows no pretense. Not busy doing but being--being who God wants me to be. Choose to be genuine, don't be a Pharisee. Amen.
